The Last Time I Saw Archie: Webb’s lone try at comedy is less ludicrous than some of his more earnest films; a shame, since William Bowers’ script-based on his own Army experiences had genuine potential, and Mitchum pleasantly underplays as the con guy. By the way, the genuine Archie Chamber sued for invasion of privacy. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jack Webb, Martha Hyer, France Nuyen, Louis Nye, Richard Arlen, Don Tangles, Joe Flynn, and Robert Strauss. (98 minutes, 1961)

The Plough and the Stars: Boring, theatrical filmizations of Sean O�Casey�s play with Foster as Irish revolutionary leader and Stanwyck as long-agonizing spouse who prays for his life. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, Preston Foster, Barry Fitzgerald, Una O’Connor, Bonita Granville, and Arthur Guards.  (78 minutes, 1936)

The Big Road: This movie is about a shy busboy who commits himself to a selfish nightclub singer. The film is abnormal (and oddly watchable), with extremely unorthodox roles for both Fonda and Ball. Cast includes Henry Fonda, Lucille Ball, Barton Mafamilye, Eugene Pallette, Agnes Moorehead, Sam Levene, Ray Collins, Hans Conried, and Ozzie Nelson. (88 minutes, 1942)

Sumptuous adaptation of Edith Wharton’s Pulitzer Prize novel in reference to censored sentiments in a close minded world. Cast includes Daniel DayLewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder, Richard E.
