Everyone Loves Dirty Dancing
This is one of those classic romantic movies and it has since gone on to become the biggest dance movie of all time making $214 million as of 2009, a truly remarkable feat. It was actually the first movie ever to sell over a million copies on video and the finale has been described as the most goosebump-inducing dance scene in movie history. The scenes of this movie were choreographed by Kenny Ortega who is also famous for the next movie on the list.
A Musical, Set In A High School?
This television movie was released in 2006 and was the biggest Disney Channel original movie ever brining in over 7.7 million viewers in the US. Many people actually call the plot to this a modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, on the downside they do not drop down dead and there were two more made.
Step Up
This 2006 movie was a big hit and is one of my girlfriends all time favourite movies and she certainly helped it make $21 million in the very first weekend, the two main actors actually went on to get married. Learn to dance lessons really came in handy for these two then although I am not sure they would be the types to jet off on one of those dancing holidays.
Footloose
With Kevin Bacon it was sure to be a winner and sure enough it turned into a big success. Although this film received many negative criticisms it went on to be a box office smash and really rocketed Bacon to the status that people see him as today.
So if you are into your dancing movies but cannot dance why do you not get out there and start learning for goodness sake! Book those Torquay hotels and get dancing!
